New Moon Restaurant in Cape Breton Island

Fast friendly and delicious!

Reception was very courteous and kind for the busiest time of year. Even though they were very, very busy and not taking any more orders he very graciously took mineI would like to thank the staff and Wis them & theirs a very happy and prosperous New Year.

I just moved to Sydney and New Moom came highly recommended. I ordered 2 #9's and the best part was the egg roll. The ribs had no sauce and they were dry and fatty. I will stick to my choice "Hung Fa".

The food was okay but the two of us were rushed out, they brought the cheque half way through the meal and the restaurant was basically empty, only 3 other couples. It was very rude and welcoming. It was 3:30 pm and not close to closing. On top of this it was super humid in there and the other patrons were asking for them to turn on the AC, they turned it on for maybe 10 mins. And then it was humid again and everyone sweated through their meal, thankfully I and my acquaintance were close to the door and had some relief. Gave 2 stars as at least my food was okay, they added extra sauce on the burnt chicken balls, that my friend half ate. Will probably try to not go there again, but it's Sydney, not many choices to choose from.

This is the best Chinese food in Sydney. Their chow mein is the best I've ever had. Decent menu choices and prices are good also. Wheel chair accessible, but not in bathrooms.

The 7.99 meal was a PERFECT size. The food was pretty good, especially for Canadian Chinese food. Tasted like someone actually put the time into making yummy food.

Do not get the chow mein. Not noodles. They are bean sprouts covered in sauce. Not good at all.

I was introduced to this restaurant by a local who tells me this place is just as good as it was "back in the day". Who am i to argue with an expert. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all my visits here (3 times over the past 10 years) and I do have to agree that the food is pretty good. The dining room is a blast from the past! Great experience.

It was a little pricey, I got the kimchi salad and I was a little disappointed that there was no actual kimchi just dressing that mildy resembles kimchi. The rolls were good, the fish was fresh, and they meal was overall light but very filling. The service was great, the owner of the restaurant greets you as you enter, checks in during your meal and sees you off at the door, you can tell he cares about his customers.

Had 1 of the combos was good except for the chow mein and ribs were bleh but ss balls rice egg rolls were good

My favorite Chinese food restaurant.. love the sweet and sour sauce on the chicken, ribs with the garlic sauce and dry wontons. Friendly staff..the best sweet and sour sauce in Canada!❤🥡🥠❤

Amazing service every time....

Currently opened for takeout only. Service was fast and friendly. Ordered a New Moon combo plate from the front counter (didn't call in advance) and the food was in my hand within 5 or 6 minutes. The quantity and quality of the food was really good at the price point. Will absolutely return again to try something else off the menu!

New Moon is the best representation of Cape a Breton Style Chinese Food, best chicken balls, fall off the bone spareribs and homemade egg rolls with pork in them. Great prices and awesome service! I always hit this place up when I come back home from TO to visit.

I love the food at this tiny hole in the wall restaurant!!! The prices are reasonable and staff is friendly.Have been going there for last few years and will continue to go. You should definitely try it out!!!!!

I have eaten here many many times & no problem but tonight it was disgusting the chow mein was nasty & inedible just gross & they wanted me to bring it back to them at my cost to prove I wasn't lying..you will never get another dime out of us

Excellent Chinese food probably one of the best in the city whenever I think of Chinese food I think of the new moon, from the convenient place downtown if you’re walking around the downtown this is a spot to go, Great on warm nights in the summer, They have all the usuals Beef and broccoli ,chicken chow mein , chicken balls, honey spareribs all delicious and everything always comes out so hot.

Best Chinese Food in Sydney

The New Moon is not a restaurant, it is more of an institution. It has been a staple in sydney for as long as I can remember feeding hungry folks big portions for very reasonable prices. Some things should never be changed and New Moon's food is one of those things. Especially the Cherry sauce, deep red delicious cherry sauce.

Eating in is awesome Delivery is not awesome.Delivery portions are far smaller than eating in. Wrong food has also been delivered on repeated occasions (Honey Garlic Ribs instead of BBQ Pork for example).Eat in if you can otherwise skip if you're looking for delivery.
